Why North Birkenhead?
In Birkenhead there are only 0.62 jobs for every person aged 16-65. Half of children in North Birkenhead live in low-income households, three times the national average.
Cradle to Career Programme aims:
- Significantly improve literacy standards among children
- Give families easy access to the support they need
- Improve the quality of life for all
- Create new opportunities for local children and young people.
- Improve communication between the community and the organisations that serve them.
How the programme works
Cradle to Career aims to significantly improve literacy standards among children, give families easy access to the support they need, improve the quality of life for all and create new opportunities for local children and young people.
The programme is now in the delivery phase and works by supporting in 3 key areas.
Education: Working towards schools becoming world class in identifying and meeting the needs of their learners.
Family & Services: Improving the engagement and support of the most vulnerable families, and giving them the opportunities they need to be healthy and happy. With services being completely re-designed in partnership with the local community, driving collaboration through the system.
Community: The community own the development of local culture and the local offer, addressing key issues affecting them.
